FAKE – Margarete Schrüfer and Ottmar Hörl, until 30 July 2016, at KunstKontor Nürnberg, Nuremberg

"FAKE", a double feature where Ottmar Hörl is partnering with Margarete Schrüfer, is Hörl's first presentation of his new series of works subversively entitled "Schnee von gestern" [literally: Yesterday's Snow, figuratively meaning "water under the bridge"]. It is his way of gauging what painting can do in the 21st century, and making an offer to enter into a discourse about that.

How do creative stimuli develop? Where is the origin of the creative act? Are we inspired by the gaps we and others leave in life, in history or in art? The "Schnee von gestern" series of works explores questions such as these, inviting spectators to enter into a debate about the gap acting as a positive creative element.

The paintings are accompanied by serial sculptures from Hörl's "Moderne Skulptur" [Modern Sculpture] series, which ties in with some of the central formal principles of the 20th century with a view to look at fundamental issues concerning art, style and sculpture from a new perspective.

On show: 17 June to 30 July 2016
