Luther Year 2017
On 31 October 2016, the Luther Year was officially inaugurated. Up to 31 October 2017, Church congregations all over Europe have different events and activities commemorating five-hundred years of Reformation on their agendas. Among them is Wertheim, located in the state of Baden-Württemberg and one of the towns designated "European City of the Reformation", a title awarded by the community of Protestant churches in Europe (GEKE).
As part of the "Protestant Provocations: Luther in Town" event, Ottmar Hörl's Luther sculptures will be set up in a number of publicly accessible locations in Wertheim. Every sculpture carries a quote from Martin Luther matching the respective location.

Moles undermine Stuttgart
On the occasion of the premiere of the new cabaret show "Der Maulwurf – Wühlkommen in den Verhältnissen" [The mole – welcome to the circumstances] at Renitenztheater Stuttgart, Ottmar Hörl is drawing everyone's attention to the piece with a number of temporary mole installations that will – in a genuine mole style – appear and disappear in different locations in Stuttgart. Thus, the artist triggers interest in thinking about the issue.

Ottmar Hörl's first worldwide, virtual art event
Ottmar Hörl's first virtual art event has been online for three weeks at www.ottmar-hoerl.de/sponti to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Sponti. Owners of the Sponti garden gnomes in sixteen countries on three continents have already posted photos of their Sponti figures.

Ottmar Hörl in France – first stop: Paris
An exhibition entitled Décalage Immédiat will be on show at Galerie Sakura in Paris until mid-January 2017. The show features works by 30 international artists taking a rather unorthodox, fresh, and provocative look at the universe. Ottmar Hörl has contributed Sponti and Bearers of Secrets garden gnomes.

Ottmar Hörl in France – second stop: Chateau Gontier
On 25 November 2016, Galerie Art Inside opened its premises at Chateau Gontier staging the two artist show ANAMORPHOSE 2D – MÉTAMORPHOSE 3D featuring works by Bernard Pras and Ottmar Hörl. Running until 21 January 2017, the show will present selected sculptures from Ottmar Hörl's serial sculpture projects.

Sotheby's to auction stars from the Euro Sculpture
In the course of an extensive overhaul in 2015, the acrylic glass panels of the yellow Euro Sculpture stars were replaced. The ones removed were later signed by celebrities and artists. On 2 February 2017, Sotheby's will offer the stars for auction at Frankfurt's Palmengarten, with the proceeds going to the cancer aid organisation Hilfe für krebskranke Kinder Frankfurt eV.

Exhibition at Kunstverein Mannheim [Mannheim Art Society]
From 5 February 2017, the Mannheim Art Society will be showing Ottmar Hörl's Handlungsanweisung zur Erlösung des schwarzen Quadrats [Instructions for the Relief of the Black Square]. The exhibition refers to a work by Kazimir Malevich, whose compositions on the black square paved the way to monochrome painting in modern art.

Sculptural project "Angels over Munich" Heilig Kreuz Church in Munich-Giesing, 2009
Due to renovation works, the interior of Heilig Kreuz Church in Munich Giesing was entirely scaffolded in 2009. The nave resembled a forest of scaffolds. Ottmar Hörl set up several hundred golden angels amidst the maze – with amazing effect. Take a look for yourselves.
